ABOUT
The K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County, NJ, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that has operated continuously in Essex County, NJ since it was founded in 1944.
Among its many activities, K-9 OTC offers group obedience classes for dogs of all ages at all levels. Teachers of these classes are experienced dog handlers who have been competing for many years in obedience, rally, agility, conformation, and other field events. They are devoted to K-9 OTC's motto that, "trained dogs make better companions."
Classes are held on Tuesday evenings (September-June) at Hal Wheeler's School for Dogs in Cedar Grove, NJ.
Every January, K-9 OTC holds one of the largest AKC sanctioned obedience and rally trials in northern New Jersey. Our trials draw over 200 competitors showing dogs of all breeds.
K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County, NJ is the ONLY AKC-affiliated obedience training club in Essex County, NJ.
The AKC Canine Partners Program opens up the world of AKC to mixed-breed dogs and their owners. K-9 OTC participates in the AKC Canine Partners Program.
